Ever Wanted To Be Friends With A Zombie? Well, Now You Can

zombie1Neptune, N.J., 4/28/2014 — With the success of television shows such as The Walking Dead and the United States government training it’s troops for a possible attack from the Zombie Apocalypse, Zombies have gotten a bad name… that is according to children’s book author A. J. Westin. He contends it’s not only possible to be friends with a zombie, but sometimes, they may even have something to teach us.

In his new children’s adventure book, “My Best Friend Is A Zombie, Really” he tells the warmhearted story of a lonely young boy who is trying to get over his parent’s recent divorce when he meets a hip young zombie by the name of Leo who has been dead for ten years. This all takes place on Halloween night, the scariest night of the year.

The author brings the two boys together under trying circumstances as each boy has to deal with his own problem. The two boys become fast friends as they hang out in the cemetery together, realizing they have much more in common than meets the eye. “I wanted to show that you can be friends with any one you want if you are willing to go beyond looks,” said A. J. The story is just one in a series of a seven volumes in the “My Best Friend Is” children’s adventure book series that deals with friendship.

“Sometimes, friendship chooses us… we don’t choose the friendships,” continued the author, A. J. Westin.  The story is written for the 8-12 year old reader who is engaged throughout the story. “For children, zombies may sound scary but if you put it in the context of a story where he’s the good guy, they will accept the zombie as a friend,” said the author. As for the young boy in the story, handling his parent’s divorce seems much scarier than meeting up and being friends with a zombie.
