Writing Children’s Books Has Become A Profitable Venture For Many Self-Published Authors On Amazon

Look out authors, writing children’s books are earning authors huge paychecks on Amazon’s Kindle platform.

Neptune, N.J., April 24, 2014 – Ranking just behind Erotica, Romance and the Cookbook niche, children’s books, both fiction and non-fiction, are pulling in big monthly royalty paychecks for self-published digital authors and have become a hot commodity for Amazon.

Since 2009, sales of children’s eBooks have exploded and are up over 475%. Traditional publishers have taken notice and are working hard to gain back the share now enjoyed by digital authors.

A study from Digital Book World and PlayCollective from 2013 reveals that over two-thirds of U.S. kids in the two-to-thirteen year old age group are reading ebooks and more than 92% of kids who are reading ebooks, read them every week. This has spurred a huge demand for children stories of all types and Amazon.com is the main winner.

Amazon, which pays out a 70% royalty for books priced between $2.99 and $9.99 has seen a large spike in sales and has taken to increasing its advertising budget to attract new sales to these types of books.

There is a downside to the children’s market which unfortunately has seen a drop in quality as well as an ever increasing glut of new releases. This glut has not stopped parents though as they continue to buy newly released children’s ebooks at a record pace.

Just recently, a nine year old girl by the name of Abbey Richter had two consecutive number one books on kindle which were children’s books about her dog and her cat.

Other children’s books such as Diary Of A Wimpy Kid, The Dork Diaries, and Big Nate have made their authors hundreds of thousands of dollars in royalties and this has led to a mad dash to quickly cash in on the phenomenon. Even the legendary author James Patterson is cashing in on his Middle School series of books..

For authors who aspire to write for the children’s market, the sky is the limit. One great book idea can make you a star in the eyes of kids everywhere. For now, the children’s book market is on an upward trend and sales are skyrocketing.
